Applying for a place at Ruskin Academy

When to apply

  • If your child's date of birth between: 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019
  • If your child is in year 2 of an infant school and turns 7 between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, you will need to apply for a junior school place by 15 January 2026. After this deadline you will need to make a late application.

As a Junior School you will need to ensure any applications are made to the correct school, see the Council's website for more information on School Admissions.  

You must still apply even if your child:  

  • goes to the infants of your chosen school
  • has a brother or sister attending the school  

How and when to apply for a primary place

  • You can apply between 1 September and 15 January if you would like your child to start school in the September after their 7th birthday
  • You can apply for a place online via the Local Authotity or by asking the school/ Local Authoirty for a copy of the School Admissions Common Application Form (CAF); 01933 677300.

Getting your results for a primary place application

  • If you applied online by 15 January, you will be sent an email on 16 April with the outcome of your application on National Offer Day. 
  • If you made a paper application, offer letters will be sent by first-class post on 16 April.
  • Applications made after 15 January will not be responded to until after 16 April.  
  • You must accept the school place offered through your online eAdmissions account by 30 April 2026.

Admission arrangements for pupils with SEN or disabilities

Children with a statement of Special Educational Need that specifies the school as the placement school will be allocated a place through a separate procedure, in accordance with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.

Oversubscription criteria

If the number of preferences for the school is more than the number of places available, places will be allocated according to the school’s admission criteria. For more information, view our Admissions Policy.

Secondary admissions for September 2026 intake
If your child is currently in Year 6, they are due to start secondary school in September 2026.
You must apply for a secondary place for your child even if they attend an all-through school, or have an older sibling at your preferred school.
